The Qantas Ski Club has secured fabulous accommodation in Big White for our 2020 WASC event.

The World Airlines Ski Championship is a 61 year old event hosted each year by the International Airlines Ski Federation (IASF). It was started by a group of airline crews on long layovers who decided to get together yearly to race against and socialise with each other at ski resorts around the world. The tradition has continued to this day with the WASC being hosted in some of the world’s most renowned and beautiful ski resorts, growing to a size of over 100 participating airlines. This coming year the event is being held in Big White Ski Resort, Canada. The 2021 WASC is to be hosted in Tromsø, Norway.
Accommodation details:
- Copper Kettle Lodge is a ski in/ski out lodge located right on the slopes of Big White Ski Resort and a short walk from the centre of the main village.
- We have secured 3 Serviced Apartments (6 team members per apartment).
- Each apartment has a 3 bedroom configuration consisting of private rooms with King beds; and bunk or single bed accomodation. Across the 3 apartments there are a total of 5 private King beds; and 13 beds in share rooms.
- Share rooms have one room with 2 beds (allocation exhausted); one room with 3 beds; and two rooms with 4 beds in bunk configuration. Allocation is on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.
- Each apartment is perfectly appointed with warm, comfortable lounge and sleeping areas, hardwood floors, heated slate walkways, stone fireplace, gourmet kitchen, aprés ski wine fridges, washer and dryer and has private hot tubs on the balconies overlooking the Okanagan wilderness.
- Shared room (bunk/single beds) $550 AUD p/p.
- Private room (king size beds) $660 AUD p/p. (Allocation exhausted).
- Non-refundable accommodation deposit of $200 AUD paid to Qantas Ski Club by 31 December.
- Full accommodation paid to Qantas Ski Club by 26 January.

- PLEASE NOTE: Any Qantas Ski Club members not registered via the Qantas Ski Club website will NOT be considered part of the trip and will NOT be eligible for the incentives extended to its registered members. These incentives include discounted accomodation and group transport, a Ski Club funded Team dinner and Qantas Snow Team jacket access. The Qantas Ski Club takes a significant financial risk in organising this event for its members, as well as requiring a substantial human contribution and therefore wishes to discourage members booking individual accomodation.
Transport options to Big White:
- Flights to Canada are not included. There will be a prize for the person(s) who find(s) the most crafty way of getting to Canada.
- Closest airport to Big White is Kelowna International Airport (YLW). This is well serviced by Air Canada and WestJet with multiple flights out of Vancouver (YVR) (<40 min flight) and Calgary (YYC) (<70 min flight).
- Staff travel is possible into Kelowna but not advisable due to the high number of airline staff travelling to Big White.
- There will be discounted flights organised by the IASF and Air Canada to/from Kelowna out of Vancouver. Shuttle buses will then transfer the Qantas Snow Team from Kelowna Airport/ Holiday Inn Express via a superstore supply stop to the door at Copper Kettle Lodge. Way back down is shared shuttle departure times varying according to departure flight time.
- Update: Air Canada discounts available for WASC Attendees. 20% off Standard Fare; 25% off Flex Fare. Contact Lorcan for booking code.
- Update: Shuttle $25 CAD up and $51.86 CAD on way down. Total cost of transfer $76.86 CAD = $86.85 AUD payable to Qantas Ski Club.
WASC Registration details:
- Registration fee $567 AUD p/p.
- Registration fee covers opening/closing ceremonies, themed party, race participation, final banquet and discounts to many activities across the mountain and in the village.
- Registration is now open and must be paid directly to Big White Ski Resort by 26 January.

Lift Tickets:
- 4 day with 15% discount: $387 AUD
- 5 day with 15% discount: $479 AUD
- 6 day with 15% discount: $570 AUD
- Includes night skiing from Tuesday through Saturday.
- Lift tickets must be purchased at least 72 hours in advance in order to qualify for 15% discount. Contact the Big White Ski Resort Groups department to organise at groups@bigwhite.com
Rentals prices per person (includes skis/board, boots and poles):
- 4 day Adult - $149 AUD
- 5 day Adult - $183 AUD
- Premium range also available for slightly higher price.

Canada Electronic Travel Authorisations (Visa):
- Canada has introduced Electronic Travel Authorisations at $7 CAD p/p. This must be obtained online prior to departure. Do not leave this until the last minute!
